BACKGROUND

Beyond the Operating Theatre

Mr Kostalas's journey into surgery was driven by a simple but powerful motivation: the desire to make a tangible difference in people's lives through skilled, thoughtful surgical intervention.

After completing his medical degree at the University of Bristol, he pursued doctoral research at the University of Surrey, earning his MD through work that advanced understanding in his field. This blend of clinical skill and academic rigour continues to inform his practice today.

His specialist training across the South West of England exposed him to the full breadth of general and upper gastrointestinal surgery. Earning the FRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of England marked the culmination of years of dedicated training and examination.

Now established as a Consultant Surgeon in Devon, Mr Kostalas combines technical precision with a deeply personal approach — taking time to understand each patient's concerns, explaining options clearly, and ensuring that every treatment plan reflects the individual, not just the condition.
