About me
Mr Marcos Kostalas is a highly experienced Consultant General and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon based at Mount Stuart Hospital and Torbay Hospital.
He graduated in Medicine from the University of Bristol in 2008 completing his surgical training across the South West and Sout East of England. During his training he went on to complete an MD in Clinical and Experimental Medicine at the University of Surrey in 2017. He achieved Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in General Surgery in 2021.
Mr Kostalas has comprehensive specialist training in hepatobiliary, bariatric and benign upper GI surgery. He has undertaken a prestigious Royal College of Surgeons of England Fellowship, refining his advanced laparoscopic techniques, and is also formally trained in robotic surgery, enabling him to offer the latest minimally invasive surgical approaches where appropriate.
He provides expert management and surgical treatment for a broad range of conditions including:

In addition to his clinical work, Mr Kostalas is an active member of the Association of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons (AUGIS) and the British Benign Upper Gastrointestinal Society (BBUGSS), where he previously served as a council member, reflecting his ongoing commitment to excellence and leadership in his field.
